Turns out, they're native to West Africa and LOVE chilling out alone. They're way smaller and quieter than the regular hippos — totally my kind of energy!

Then, I heard the cutest squeaking noises from the river section. I followed the sounds and found these tiny otters zipping around like little maniacs! 😂 They're from Southeast Asia and have the smallest paws ever — they can even open things like pros. Honestly, it was pure chaos watching them play-fight over a pebble. Peak entertainment.

Not kidding, I thought I was seeing things — the tortoise enclosure had this pancake-looking thing just chilling under a rock. 🥞 It's called a pancake tortoise from East Africa. They're actually super smart: instead of hiding in their shell, they hide between rocks! Genius.

🦘 Tree Kangaroos: Fluffy Ninjas

Later, I stumbled into an indoor rainforest exhibit and met my absolute fave: the tree kangaroo! 🌴🦘 They live in Papua New Guinea and Australia, and instead of hopping on land, they do ninja moves through the trees. Watching them slowly nibble on leaves with those fluffy paws?? My heart melted. 🥹

Over at the reptile house, I met a blue-tongued skink. When they get nervous, they flash their bright blue tongues like they're saying “Back off!” 😂 Such a little drama king. But up close, they're super chill and low-key adorable.
